It’s not uncommon for women to experience night sweats after pregnancy, known as postpartum night sweats.  Levels of hormones change as a woman’s body adjusts to not being pregnant anymore, which can prompt an increase or decrease in body temperature. Also, sweating is another way for the body to get rid of excess fluid after childbirth.

Postpartum sweats are common and not usually a sign of anything to cause serious alarm. However, it can cause disruption to sleep resulting in irritation and affecting quality of life.

An interesting article published last month on MedicalNewsToday website has some handy tips on managing postpartum sweats.

Using breathable natural fabrics, drinking cold water, and keeping the bedroom cool will bring some relief from sweating, but if postpartum night sweats are not improving over time, or if people are experiencing other symptoms, they should contact a doctor.
