An article recently published in the Mirror UK reports on the decreased acts of violence after prisoners were provided with ear plugs. Acts of violence were common in the morning immediately after being let out of their cells, suspected to be in response to loud snoring or loud TV noise overnight. The number of violent incidents has halved in the past year, with more inmates reporting feeling safer now than in the past, 1 in 10 now report feeling unsafe compared with 1 in four previously.

While we would rather see loud snorers have their problem treated, it’s good to see a reduction in violence.
