  • This study showed that DOSA was associated with an elevated risk of CVD, and was associated with a higher risk of all-cause mortality when using AHI ≥ 30 events per hr as the definition of OSA. These findings enhance the understanding of the association between DOSA and CVD/all-cause mortality.
  • The incidence of hypertension and diabetes in patients from the depression group and DOSA group was significantly increased compared with the healthy group after adjusting for age, sex and BMI.
  • CVD and all-cause mortality: The corresponding percentages were 24.5%, 31.0%, 31.6% and 41.7% for the healthy, depressive, OSA, and DOSA groups. The Kaplan–Meier curve of cumulative risk for CVD reflected that the risks of CVD were significantly increased in three groups, especially in the DOSA
  • The result presented here suggested that patients with DOSA have superimposed increase in the risk of CVD across various definitions based on the AHI (apnoea-hypopnoea index) of OSA.
